A sendoff playdate

This afternoon we had a wonderful playdate (I played hookey from work - woot woot!), but it was bittersweet because we were sending off one of the moms in our mom's group who will be moving away.  Kaycie and her son Oliver started in the Stanford Mom's Group the same day as Annabel and I and it's been wonderful to get to know them over the past year and a half+.
The super moms.

It was a warm afternoon so the kids piled into the wading pool.

Kaycie and Baby Quinn (Jr.)

Kaycie and Oliver will be missed!  But we'll be recruiting her back to for Mom's Night Out (or any other type of night out - we really just need an excuse).

Shayna, baby Quinn and a horde of toddlers curious about the little one (including Henry who looks like he's ready to club something with a dinosaur femur).

Annabel was obsessed with the baby.  Emphasis on the OBSESSED.  She showered her with kisses and hugs all afternoon (and I showered her with reminders like "gentle, gentle, gentle...", "please don't share your daycare germs"...)

*Update* - Alison posted some cute pics too over here.

Baseball!

This weekend Lisa and several of her friends went to Napa for their friend Liz’s bachelorette party.  With Lisa gone for the day on Saturday, it was time for some quality daddy/daughter time.  I have been letting Annabel watch some baseball on TV in hopes that she would be interested in the action…and my plan worked.  So Saturday afternoon Annabel and I got ready to go to a Giants game together.

Although I warned her, she pre-gamed a little too hard.

Annabel then heard that some baseball players are cute and they make a lot of money, so she was practicing her pose.  At this point, I thought it would be a good idea to have Annabel drink some water and take a nap.

We finally got to the game and the weather was perfect.  Annabel (and Dad) were very excited.

A special thanks to our friend Todd who was able to get us the free tickets and take most of the pictures.

Since A was so good and we were able to stay for the whole game, Daddy let her have a super-special treat...a slushy/snow cone.  I don't think I have ever seen someone love sugar water so much.

All in all, we had a great day and a lot of fun.

Recent Happenings

I fell off the blogging wagon about a month ago when life just sort of hit us and I fell behind.  Today I'm staring at the date on my computer and finding it hard to believe it reads 'May 21st'.  My work laptop is being replaced so while I'm waiting for the new one to arrive I have a few minutes to catch up.  Here are a few highlights (being busy also means less photos...sorry).

1. An awesome Gymboree playdate (for the girls) and margaritas (for the parents) - an early Cinco de Mayo celebration of sorts.  Check out the Willis family blog for pics of our cuties.

2.  See those pictures of Annabel kissing Quinn?  Well, they weren't so cute the next day when A suddenly came down with a fever and a few days later was diagnosed with strep throat.  4 days with 103+ fever meant a lot of snuggles, Yo Gaba Gaba epiodes, and a sad little one.  #itsucked.

3. Two dear friends I met at Babson, Katherine and Precillia, were in town for either work or for fun and it was such a treat to get to see them.  Moreover, it was a treat to get to go out, sans child, to SF for some grown up time with girlfriends. On Friday night, Melissa, Kath and I went to La Mar and enjoyed their delicious empenadas.  On both occassions the time passed too quickly, but luckily they have strong connections to the area that will keep them coming back.  Melissa and I already lobbying for their next visit.

4. My mom returned from a month away in Australia, much to Annabel's delight, so we had a late Mother's day celebration at Donato Enoteca.  It was delicious and A ate half of mom's Tiramisu.  Now that she's back, Annabel's been spoiled with desserts - last night she brought over HOMEMADE chocolate churros that were devine.  I highly recommend you finding a loved one to make these for you.

5. This weekend I went up to Healdsburg/ Geyserville on Saturday for Liz's bachelorette so Matt took A to a Giants game on Saturday all by himself.  They both loved it and I hear A has a crush on Buster Posey. I'll have to grab a photo from Matt's phone if there are any of their father-daughter day at the ball park.

6. Our little garden is growing like gangbusters. Annabel has her own plant - a zucchini - that she planted and waters "herself".  Last night we harvested and grilled up our first crop.

Favorite Picture

Most of the pictures I try to take of A she can't be bothered to look up from what she's doing to smile at the camera.  Therefore, most my recent pics look a lot like this...

So, I was thrilled when she obliged my request to pick her head up and say "cheese"...

I could eat this child up right now.

Fun dinner date with friends

We did a lot of window shopping along Laurel while checking out the farmer's market in san carlos.  It got real authentic with these haybale outside of Harvest.
