Giants!
Earlier this summer Annabel came to me and said "Daddy, I love baseball. Can you take me to a Giants game?" Of course, I immediately said yes and then had to find a 1:00 PM weekend game to go to. We chose the Pittsburgh Pirates series and had awesome weather and an even better time. As an added bonus, we took the train to the game (which we had never done before but will be doing all the time going forward) and stayed for the whole game.

Gabby's birthday
Gabby had a really cute 4th birthday party at Mints and Honey in San Mateo where the kids decorated cookies and enjoyed a bunch a sugar.

First Day of Preschool - Success!
A few more pics from Annabel's first day of preschool -- which ended up being a success. She was very excited to go this morning. We prepared by going shopping yesterday for a back to school outfit and packing or snacks together. Although she said she was scared to be by herself at school she did great at drop off. I was really proud of her - no tears were shed and no fits were thrown. She held our hands a little tighter and hugged us a little longer than normal but she just continued to play when we left.
When I picked her up she was excited to see me - all the kids seemed pretty excited to see their parents. She said they ate a snack and had circle time. And they read stories about aliens and bears. The teacher said she did well and she made some new friends.
Thursday will be Day 2 and we hope it goes just as well!

First day of preschool! The drop off.
Annabel's first day of preschool at Playschool was today. She was really excited this morning. Drop off went okay, no tears but certainly some apprehension in her eyes. I can't wait to pick her up in a little bit to hear how it went!

Josie - 12 Weeks
Josie is 12 weeks and here is another comparisson of her and Annabel at that same time.

And here they are together today! (We were headed to the pool and wanted to squeeze in a quick photo before we forgot.)

And here they are together today! (We were headed to the pool and wanted to squeeze in a quick photo before we forgot.)
The week is a busy one with Annabel starting school and turning 3 so I feel like the house has been a bit more chaotic than usual. It marks another more significant transition for Annabel, when she is still processing some components of Josie's arrival. Yesterday she asked me to call her 'Anna', something she insisted upon when Josie was born, but hadn't mentioned in many weeks. I suppose calling upon this girl 'Anna' is one way she deals with stress. Or perhaps it's a sign we need to call a child psychologist.
But, in the past week or so Annabel and Josie have been really interacting and it is so. freaking. cute. Before Annabel would essentially attack Josie with her love through hugs, etc. and Josie would just kind of take the abuse - the affection was a little one sided since Josie wasn't able to show her yet (on her own). It was maybe a week or so ago that Annabel did something and Josie laughed at her, but whether it was to entertain Josie on purpose or not I have no idea. Josie has been giggling for a while but not yet at Annabel. So since then they have a little back and forth every once in a while, like tonight at dinner Annabel "talked" with Josie most the time and Josie "talked" right back. As a parent it was very promising!
In the meantime, Josie is not getting any smaller. We tried to stuff her into a sleep sack that said ran up to 14 pounds and we were literallly stretching it to its limits - I don't think the velcro even reached the right places. When we hold her while we're eating she locks eyes with our food and even leans in toward it. I don't think she'll be too shy around food.
She continues to laugh and be super chatty, but her sleeping habits have regressed a bit so we've been up every 2 or 3 hours again. In our eyes, as compared to Annabel, she's a very agreeable baby, though she still fusses and likes to be held. She's starting to try to roll over but has only gotten all the way over once. I'm in no hurry for her to be super mobile - I like it when I can put her down in one place and expect her to be there when I get back.
