Crissy Fields Beach

The good times & good weather continued 4th of July weekend - we headed up to SF to the beach with our friends Ben, Melissa & their kids.

Annabel didn't shy away from the sand and only took a couple (unintentional) mouthfuls. Even then, she didn't complain as she was just so delighted to be there.

Here's the gang, except the 3 year old, who was too busy making made fast friends with a neighborning blanket and running to and from the water. Their 2 month old was snuggled up and so good the entire time.

So, who's chasing who?

Water baby

We enjoyed perfect weather this 4th of July weekend which allowed us to enjoy every second of it. We kicked it off with a trip to the pool with Grandma and Grandpa.

Look, no hands! (Whoa, slow down there baby.)

Happy 4th!

We headed to the Redwood City 4th of July parade, which was fun. Next year Annabel will appreciate it a bit more. In the meantime, we stayed as long as her attention span would allow. So, approximately 10 minutes.

In the afternoon, we BBQ'd and spent some time outside enjoying the gorgeous weather.

What is this mysterious bubble making machine?

The newest sensation around the house is a Radio Flyer 'walker' that Annabel enjoys puttering around the yard and house with. Radio Flyer + Red & White outfit...can you get more American than that?

Sometimes she likes using it as a walker, and other times she's just delighted to find toys inside. Our house is tiny so after a few steps we end up shuffling the furniture around to create a path.

Super Dad

This week I had to travel to Denver for work. While work travel used to be a more frequent occurance, I haven't been on the road for quite some time. Typically it's no big deal and I didn't think this week would be any different. I knew Matt would be just fine with Annabel - even dealing with all the logistical issues like daycare pick-up and drop-offs.

But of course, that's when Annabel picked up some sort of virus with her temperature spiking over 102 the day before I left. So, after a sleepless night (almost literally), I headed to the airport in the pre-dawn hour very worried (and very tired).

In the end I really had nothing to stress about. (The guilt of leaving, well, that's another story.) Mr. Mom did a great job - he took care of everything! And today she is doing terrific - back to her normal self.

On top of that, while Matt was working hard at home, I got to hang out for beers with our friend Jake from Boston who was also in town for biz. Thanks again Matt for being a super dad!
