Uncle Bub (aka Mark) Comes to California

We'd been looking forward to this past weekend because Mark, Matt's brother, came for a visit.  While we couldn't muster up very nice weather for him time here, we were still able to have some fun.

Brotherly love by the Golden Gate.

The rain drove us inside so we explored the Ferry Building.  And despite the rain, the oysters were still enjoyed.

I won't touch too much upon the event that shall not be named (the Syracuse game)...but Annabel did try to rally the team in her gear.

Yellow Bunny

This was my very favorite stuffed animal and security "blanket", creatively called Yellow Bunny (sadly, I'm not more creative today than I was back then).  He (she? I can't remember now) is ratty and worn with love and in its heyday I think my parents did everything they could to keep this little guy alive, including ponying up for multiple major surgical procedures (sewing the ears back on several times).  It's clearly not particularly cute at this age, especially when compared to her other little animals and toys.

So, it made my heart swoon when Annabel choose it off a shelf tonight to hug, because she may love it too.

Or, she may tear its ears off again.

Tree Climbing

Picnick Party People

We enjoyed another terrific weekend spending lots of time outdoors.  On Saturday we ventured to a huge playground and park at Coyote Point and picnicked with my very dear friend Melissa, along with her hubby and (rapidly) growing kids.

The swings, as usual, were a hit for Annabel...but it was most fun to watch the unabashed delight on Melissa's daughter, June (10 mo.), face.  Annabel used to be like that, now she just demands we push her more.

On Sunday we headed over to Livermore for picnick # 2 and wine tasting at Concannon winery with the Guenther's and Parsons'.  Despite the cold, this place ended up being perfect...the adults lounged on the heated patio while the kids ran around the lawn and climbed trees (more on that later).

We discovered Annabel's growing crush on Gavin, the older man of the group.  Here she's playing hard to get.

Overall it was a lovely afternoon outing and everyone was sufficiently tuckered out in the evening so they could fall asleep early.
