Father's day kicked off the way all good days should begin - with a romp through the sprinklers.

We headed to Happy Hallow (a park/amusement park/zoo for smaller kids) with my Mom, who used to take us there when we were smaller kids.
The carosel was not a hit, but it was just the beginning.

Dad and Annabel checking out the lemurs - animals are always a hit! Well, except for the petting zoo animals, where Annabel prefers to watch the rowdy, snack-happy goats from the other side of the fence.
She took her first "amusement" ride - she's never really gone on anything like this, especially without a parent, so after the earlier carosel experience we waited with baited breathe for her to scream bloody murder 5 seconds into the ride. But instead she was thrilled! We were delightfully suprised and proud of her for going on the adventure.
Needless to say, after the long day she took a marathon nap...almost 3 hours (a record in this house! And can you believe the amount of stuff you can get done around the house in that time?!? Another father's day gift to dad.)
Thank you Matt for being a super terrific dad - for being patient, energetic, and silly. And for blowing the best "big bubbles", filling every request to go visit the neighborhood cat(s), making the best peanut butter toast for breakfast, teaching her to love baseball and gardening, doing her laundry and mastering stain removal, being the disciplinarian when I'm too lazy/tired, providing a supportive sounding board when I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing (even though baseball is way more interesting), translating 'annabel-speak' for me, and so much more!
