Annabel is two and a half (wow!). We don't normally celebrate half birthdays but I was in the mood for cake and there isn't much that can get between me and a box of cake mix these days, so half cake it was! I didn't hear any complaints from the crew.
These days she loves to swim, jump, and dance. She still enjoys reading, in particular a certain Curious George anthology that weighs more than she does. Her favorite shows are Dora and Diego, and has subsequently developed some kind of crush on Diego. She prefers "her" music be played in the car, which is kids music (and is starting to make me crazy). Lately her favorite "friends" are Brownie (a bear) and Bluebell (rabbit).
She is very curious and is usually all up in my business, especially in the kitchen. The "why's" are tapering down to a more managable level now. Now, she consistently wants to know 1) what different people/animals eat, 2) who bought various items (like clothes, etc.), and 3) what other people's pajamas look like (that's normal, right?).
She's starting to dress and undress herself on her own. So yes, it does take 15 minutes to put on pajamas and from the pictures above you can see how stretched out the neck gets. Sometimes she puts her coat on the right side up. Tonight she wanted to change her own diaper. Little miss independent. But not independent enough to want to use the toilet.
She always asks for "a couple more minutes" to play (no surprise). And asks if we're going to do things "in a couple days" or "next week". She has no concept of time - in minutes or days.
And finally, she's excited to be a big sister but can't decide if she wants to have a baby brother or sister more. She hugs the belly, talks about how big it is (she called it an egg the other day), and gives it a kiss every once in a while. Very sweet!
We love this little kiddo are excited to see how her preferences change and skills develop.
